National Treasures presents: A fais do-do featuring the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band at the French Market

Are you ready to get your Cajun two-step on in the French Quarter? On March 8, National Heritage Fellows from Louisiana Across Jean Lafitte National Park & Preserve is coming to New Orleans! Beginning with a dance lesson by Brandon Broussard (Louisiana Dance Roots), this outdoor “fais do-do” presented by the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA)‘s National Treasures program opens with a performance by Cedric Watson and Chris Stafford, followed by the all-star Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band. Comprised of National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellows Marc Savoy (1985) and Michael Doucet (2005) as well as renowned folklorist and musician Ann Savoy (The Savoy Family Cajun Band), this this trio is guaranteed to get you on the dance floor!
Make sure to come hungry, because Cochon King BBQ and Nola Crawfish King Seafood & Barbecue will be providing traditional Cajun BBQ and boiled crawfish—with drinks provided by El Gato Negro NOLA. In partnership with French Market (New Orleans) and National Park Service‘s Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, this celebration is free to the public and begins at 5:30pm CT sharp at the historic French Market.
